Director Xiaorui reunites his cast and crew to resume a film halted ten years ago. By 01.2020, as shooting nears completion, news of an illness spreads. A Wuhan-based hairdresser is sent home, and the crew anxiously follows updates. Some escape before security seals the hotel. Trapped inside, they communicate via video calls, while main actor Jiang Cheng struggles to support his wife and baby in locked-down Beijing.

Lou Ye

Lou Ye, born in Shanghai (1965) to a theatrical family, spent his childhood in theatres. He studied at Shanghai School of Fine Arts, worked as an animator, and graduated from Beijing Film Academy (1989) in directing. His films have been selected by major festivals (Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Golden Horse, Asian Film Awards) and won numerous prizes.
